When should I begin fundraising?
All players and teams are encouraged to begin fundraising as soon as they sign up, to avoid the last-minute crunch and to maximize your fundraising potential.
How are pledges collected?
Pledges will be collected through an online donor portal located on the tournament website. Offline donations will be processed by printing off the pledge form from the website and collecting money. Team captains will be responsible for turning all pledge forms in to Easter Seals Ontario 48 hours prior to the tournament.
When will the game schedule be determined?
A game schedule will be distributed seven days prior to the event.
What are the tournament rules and format?
Click here to review the tournament rules. The format is divisions of 4 teams playing a round robin (3 games min. per team) followed by an All-Star Game between top fundraisers and NHL alumni.
How many people will participate in the tournament?
A total of 16 teams will take part in the Celebrity Hockey Classic tournament. Each team will consist of a minimum of 15 players, maximum 20.
How much money do I need to raise?
Each player is required to raise a minimum fundraising amount in order to be eligible to play. All dollars raised will go towards your team’s total. Your draft pick will be determined by your team’s fundraising amount, so the more you raise, the better your pick.
What is the tournament format?
Day 1 – Celebrity Hockey Classic Draft: The draft will include players, NHL alumni, sponsors and special guests for an evening reception, including food and beverages, that will set the tone for the tournament. The team that raises the most will be awarded the first draft pick, the team that raised the second highest amount will pick second and so on.
Day 2 – Tournament Day: Each team will play three round robin games followed by an All-Star game at the end of the day where the top fundraisers will form a team that will play a team made up entirely of NHL alumni.
Do I have to be a superstar athlete to do this?
Not at all. Whether you’re an average Joe couch potato, a weekend warrior, or a seasoned athlete, the Celebrity Hockey Classic is for you. The tournament features players from a variety of different abilities.
Will I receive a tax receipt for my donation?
Yes, tax receipts for any pledge amount over $20 will be sent out after the event.
How do I create a team?
From any page on the website, click on the REGISTER icon to begin the online registration process. A new browser tab will open up and your first choice will be to choose the Celebrity Hockey Classics tournament that you wish to participate in. After that you will need to accept the online waiver. Once the waiver has been accepted, you will be presented with the choice to JOIN or CREATE a team! If you need additional help please contact your tournament coordinator.
Can I accept manual donations and who should the cheques be payable to?
Manual donations are accepted and cheques should be made out to Easter Seals Ontario. Manual donations will not be added to the to the scoreboard until they are received at an Easter Seals office.
Where can I find the offline pledge form?
You can download the offline pledge form here. It can also be accessed from the top website menu under Player Info or within your online fundraising tools under Fundraising > Download Forms.
How do I see my Donations?
There are several ways you can view your donations:
- Visit your personal fundraising page through the link provided in your confirmation email
- Log In to your online fundraising tools and go to Fundraising
- Visit your TEAM fundraising page and click on your name under the team members list to take yourself to your personal fundraising page
How do I email my friends?
Log In to your online fundraising tools and go to Fundraising > Get Sponsors
How do I adjust my Personal Goal?
Log In to your online fundraising tools and go to Fundraising. In the information presented on the right you will see your personal fundraising goal. Click on (change).
