Born in Edmonton, Alberta, John Scott played in the NCAA for the Michigan Tech Huskies for four years. Despite not being drafted by the NHL, Scott signed as a free agent with the Houston Aeros of the AHL and then with the Minnesota Wild of the NHL in his 2008 – 2009 season. Scott played two seasons in Minnesota before moving to Chicago, NY Rangers, Buffalo, San Jose, Arizona and lastly Montreal in the 2015 – 2016 season.
In his final year, Scott found his biggest claim to fame when he was voted into the NHL All-Star Game as a fan vote and then voted MVP in the game. His story became noteworthy and as a result, a Hollywood film is in the works. Scott shows zero signs of slowing down surmounting a total of 286 games played with 544 penalty minutes and 11 points.
