Drafted by the Vancouver Canucks 10th overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Hodgson would make his NHL debut in February 2011. He has represented Canada on the world stage three times, bringing home Gold for Canada twice: in the 2008 IIHF World U18 Championships and the 2009 World Junior Championships. He would spend over two years in the Canucks system before a surprise trade to Buffalo in 2012. With the Sabres, Cody had good production totals before injuries started to impact his ability to play. In 2015, he signed a one-year contract with the Nashville Predators and in 2016, he retired from the NHL when he was diagnosed with malignant hyperthermia, caused by a mutation of his RYR-1 gene. Since his retirement, he has worked to raise awareness for the disease, partnering with the RYR-1 Foundation to create a documentary.
