Curtis Joseph, also known by fans as Cujo for his masks featuring a snarling dog (inspired by the novel Cujo by Stephen King), began his professional career as a goalie for the St. Louis Blues in 1989. Over the course of his 20-year career in the NHL, he would play for the Blues, Oilers, Maple Leafs, Red Wings, Coyotes, and Flames and was a three-time All-Star (1994, 1999, 2000) and awarded the King Clancy Memorial Trophy in 2000. Joseph has represented Canada on the international stage multiple times, bringing home the gold medal in the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City and two silver medals in 1996 for the World Championships in Austria and the World Cup of Hockey in Canada. He announced his retirement from the NHL in 2010 and, in his post-playing career, has been a goaltending consultant for the Carolina Hurricanes, released an autobiography, and, in 2025, he was inducted into the St. Louis Blues Hall of Fame.
