Since the start of the 1997-98 season Jim as been the colour commentator for all Toronto Maple Leafs radio broadcasts. Over the course of 20 plus years he has yet to miss a game.
Born in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, he left home at 16 to play his junior hockey as a goaltender for the Ottawa 67s, where he still holds the franchise record with 107 wins, a number that stood as the OHL record for 26 years.
After being drafted to the Chicago Blackhawks, he embarked on a 7-year minor league career despite missing a year with a serious knee injury at 22. Jim went on to work for TSN and Global Television for the next 7 years before joining the Leafs radio broadcasts. Jim has been a guest speaker at hundreds of events over the past 25 years, including events hosted by Wayne Gretzky, Bobby Orr, Bobby Hull and Gordie Howe.
Jim resides in Aurora, Ontario with his two children.
